A West Coast Adirondack Redux / by Michael Cobb

This west-coast redux of the traditional Adirondack chair is built from rough-sawn redwood boards. Using the beefier rough-sawn stock allows for the “blind” attachment of screws via the bottom edge of the supporting 2x4 members. Many outdoor wood chairs develop hazardous and uncomfortable nail and screw head “pops” as they weather. The blind attachment methodology on the seat and back improves on the traditional design with a more durable and comfortable seating strategy.

The approximate material cost of this project is $350. It is made from a single rough-sawn 2x4 and two rough-sawn 2x8 sticks.

This shot is for those die-hard chair aficionados who can appreciate the hard work and craft that clearly went into this design for German Shorthair Pointers comfort.
